“We know that schools, families, and communities are eager to support the mental health of children and adolescents, especially in this time of intense crisis. This practical guide provides a variety of resources to start and expand these critical services at a time when they are most needed.”

-Tracy Mendez, Executive Director of the California School-Based Health Alliance.

In partnership with the Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission, the California Department of Education and the California Mental Health Services Authority, the California School-Based Health Alliance developed and released the California Student Mental Health Implementation Guide. This guide is a resource to support local education agencies (LEAs) and county behavioral health departments (BHDs) as they seek to partner and deliver high-quality school mental health services.

The guide is divided in to nine sections:

    1. Overview of School Mental Health
    2. Equity & Anti-Racist School Mental Health
    3. Needs Assessment
    4. Planning & Partnerships
    5. Staffing & Facilities
    6. Coordination
    7. Legal & Liability
    8. Funding & Sustainability
    9. Data Collection & Outcomes
