The 2021 KIDS COUNT Data Book: State Trends in Child Well-Being delivers the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s annual state rankings and latest available data on child well-being. The Data Book highlights child well-being before and after the COVID-19 pandemic, as families endured even more public health and economic challenges during the pandemic. These challenges ranged from food and housing insecurity to health concerns. The Annie E. Casey Foundation urged immediate action from Congress, increasing the child tax credit as well as monthly payments to most families of $250 to $300 per child.
