``Investing in trainers and curriculum to increase the quality of services for elderly and disabled individuals across the state.``
The Beginning
In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Training Academy
During the period of 2016 to 2019, the Social Policy Institute (SPI) was funded by the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) to develop and implement the IHSS Training Academy. THe SPI team revitalized the IHSS Core Curriculum, recruited, trained and supported high quality trainers, and developed several topical trainings, such as Disability Awareness.
Older Adults are the fastest growing segment of our population. Services, systems, and communities need to adjust to meet the changing needs of an aging society.
What Changed
SPI ensured high quality services across all IHSS related program activities by providing a solid administrative infrastructure for registration and tracking of all training participants and implemented a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) System to monitor and continuously enhance the training curriculum and training delivery.
In The End
Overall, trainings were provided to 4,500 County social workers as requested by the CDSS Adult Services Division in California.
